24th study finds more powerful association between fluoride in water and lower IQ in children Is this the finish of water fluoridation? Exposure to fluoride may lower children’s intelligence says a report pre-published in Environmental Health Perspectives, a publication of the National Institute of Environmental Health Sciences .S. Public normal water items. According to Paul Connett, Ph.D., director of the Fluoride Actions Network, ‘This is the 24th study that has discovered this association, but this research is more powerful than the rest because the authors have managed for essential confounding variables and in addition to correlating lowered IQ with degrees of fluoride in the water, the authors found a correlation between lowered IQ and fluoride levels in children’s blood.Genomic DNA from 192 semen samples was isolated by using the TRIzol reagent , and 192 matched DNA samples were obtained from peripheral bloodstream. Microarray Testing We performed aCGH by using a whole-genome 400K oligonucleotide microarray in DNA samples obtained from 15 American patients of European descent who had azoospermia. Male DNA purified from bloodstream samples donated by men and provided by Promega was used as a reference. A targeted X-chromosome high-quality microarray designed at the Pittsburgh Cytogenetics Laboratory was useful for delineation of X-chromosome deletions. The aCGH data were analyzed by using Agilent CytoGenomics software, version 3.0. Genomic copy-number variants, also known as losses and benefits , were analyzed with the use of the next bioinformatic databases: Online Mendelian Inheritance in Guy, UniGene, the Conserved Domain Data source, and BioGPS.
